Olympic Penisula

We had intended to go to the Hurricane Ridge Visitor's Center in Olympic National Park, but instead we went a little too far and ended up in the Elwha Valley. Nearly deserted, it was a wonderful find. We took a hike along the lake formed by the Elwha Dam and was told by the Ranger that the dam was going to be removed next summer. The most extensive dam removal project in the United States to date.

So by accident we saw something historic. Well...pre-historic. Hah!

We packed up and headed to Sarah's land of enchantment (a.k.a. Forks). On the way, Jake realized there was something in his shoe. He rolled down his window and stuck his shoe out and then yelped as he nearly lost it. "How fast are we going?" he asked, astonished, hugging his shoe to his chest. Scott replied calmly, "Ludicrous Speed."

After Forks we had to head back. We stopped at the Visitor's Center near the Hurricane Ridge entrance to Olympic National Park on the way back and took this photo (the brainchild of Jake and Sarah).

Ate dinner at Doc's Marina Gill. Sat outside and enjoyed the food. Managed to make the 8:55pm Ferry.

Tomorrow - kayak!!
