Red Egg and Ginger Party

Newly wed and new parents.

Another Matty photo.
Matty captures my eating experience.
My dear, dear friend had a baby a few months ago and last night was baby TJ's Red Egg and Ginger Party.  Since we'd been to her wedding many years ago, we had an idea of what to expect.  The food, the lions, the speeches; they were all wonderful.

Early in the dinner I made friends with my three year old neighbor, Matty.  He was nice enough to take over the photo taking responsibility and managed to catch some really good moments (and a lot of moments covered up by tiny fingers).  He and I agreed that while the lions were pretty, they were very loud.  Also, since we both narrowly missed being pelted by flying cabbage, we were grateful that they were finally herded from the building.

I am not someone you should invite to unique culinary experiences.  My dear friend knows this and I'm pretty sure she makes me go just so she can mock me later.  Last night was no exception.  I did enjoy the rice and the chicken (not necessarily the chicken head).

But the whole night was about baby TJ and the parents did a great job of keeping the focus on the little man.  From the pictures on the tables (that my son has now put on his nightstand), to the slides that were playing on the walls (that Matty kept making sure I looked at), we all were there to say "YAY!  We're so glad you are here little guy."  And we are.  My new nephew is beautiful, bright and precious.  And I love him.
