Los Angeles Book Fair

We missed seeing Rick Springfield and since Mandy and I were prepared to sing "Jesse's Girl" to the absolute mortification of my son, it is a real shame that our paths did not cross.  Found out Mr. Springfield was nabbed for drunk driving later that night.  Could it be that he was so depressed at not witnessing our 80's greatness, that he made a stupid error of judgement and will forever pay for it with his damaged reputation?  Possibly.  Possibly.

Patton Oswalt Pontificating
Us - laughing at the Goth Girls
We did stumble across Patton Oswalt reading from his new book.  It was funny, but only mildly so, that is until two girls in the front row ran away from a bee.  They were completely punked out - tattoos, badly died hair, skirt over tights, bizarre sleeve styling, etc.  Mr. Oswalt railed on them for a good ten minutes.  "Two goth girls, running away from a bee..."  He suggested that they go to J. Crew and get some khakis and pinks and have their tattoos burned off, that Vampire Lestat would have just let the bee sting him and reveled in the pain, and that this was the most Vitamin D they were going to have all year - back to the brooding dark...  It was very funny.

While this year wasn't as fun as years gone by, I did buy a book that looked wonderful and is wonderful - Lost and Found by Shaun Tan.

Speaking of books, mine should be on Amazon tomorrow.  For those of you who purchased it off of the Barnes and Noble site, I did fix a couple of obvious errors.  Only those who have edited for hours will understand my abject horror at having an error on page two.  I would grow tired and bald while I explained to you how that happened.  So let's just never speak of it again.  If you did download it, you can reload the corrected version at no cost.
