Editing. And writing new stuff. I received comments back for my youth sci-fi story and I am on the right track. I had to read a page out loud in class and I found myself enjoying it, but also realizing how much detail I leave out in my first drafts. In some ways that works pretty well, but in other ways it means editing becomes a full time job. And, sadly, I have a full time job.
Attended a class this weekend on the legal aspects of publishing. It was good and I learned quite a bit, but the slant was biased toward an agent and traditional publishing model. When I asked questions about e-book publishing they responded as if I was mad. So when they talked about submissions to agents being mostly through email and that the "slush piles" were becoming outdated, I was wondering if they were listening to themselves talk. Electronic publishing is the future. How soon? Soon, in my opinion.
