The Pacific Northwest

If I could move to Seattle tomorrow I would.  I love the entire area more than I can tell you.  On this trip we had two days of rain and one of beautiful sun.  On the first day, after our appointments, we drove to Multnomah Falls.  It was raining so bad, we almost gave up.  We exited the freeway, only to find ourselves on a two lane highway we couldn't turn around on.  We then had to keep going.

The falls were beautiful, but it was raining so hard we couldn't hike like we'd wanted to.

After running back to the car, we headed back and found ourselves in Troutdale.  We asked a clerk at a shop if there was a place close by they recommended for dinner.  He suggested McMenamins.  He said that sometimes the service could be slow, but the food was good (and he was right, food was excellent).  The restaurant was built in an old poor house.  The gift shop cashier explained that if you were bad and didn't work the fields you had to eat at the Mush Table and was not allowed to eat meat...which would have been perfect for us (since we're now veggie lovers).  The cashier went on to explain that the owners were really nice and that since they had beer, wine and hard liquor they were quite a rarity in Oregon.

On the second day we drove to Morton, Washington for a plant tour.  Our guide was super and we enjoyed learning all about his family's weight loss struggles.  After an hour at the plant, we needed food.  There were three places suggested - a questionable Mexican restaurant, Subway, or Spiffy's Burgers.  I thought Spiffy's would be fine, since I was craving fries, but when we finally found the walk up/car wash/run down shack, we elected to eat at the local grocery store.  We stocked up on Fritos and hummus dip and headed west.  I also gave my last ten dollars to a boy scout for popcorn we later gave to the rental car guy.  The boy scout was super nice and he deserved it.

The video is during our wet drive north to Seattle.

We finally had sun on the last day and this was our view of Mount Rainier.

The Seattle airport lobby - in my humble opinion the prettiest in the land.
